In the run up to remembrance Sunday, Alistair Strathern, Labour MP for Hitchin, has dedicated a stake in the Constituency Garden of Remembrance in Parliament, in memory of a local British Army veteran Patrick Richardson.
He paid tribute to all those from the constituency who have given their lives in service, including those who served at RAF Chicksands and RAF Henlow bases in the constituency.
Commenting, Alistair Strathern MP said:
“It was a privilege to be able to dedicate this stake in remembrance of my constituent, British Army veteran Patrick Richardson, and in honour of all those from our constituency who made the ultimate sacrifice.
“The Constituency Garden of Remembrance is an important way for us to show our admiration and respect for the Armed Forces in Herts, Beds and across our country.
“It forms an essential part of our annual Remembrance events here in Parliament, reinforcing our commitment to honour those who served and ensuring we never forget the sacrifices they made.
“We will remember them.”
