8 April 2024: My week in Parliament and Mid Bedfordshire

Parliament may have been off for the last couple of weeks but there’s been plenty to keep me busy across our towns and villages.

I held my latest town hall meeting and constituency surgery in Harlington and Flitwick. A big thank you to everyone who came along to share their local priorities, you can find our details of my next meetings at www.alistairstrathern.com

I continued my work to push for more investment in local health facilities. I met with the local NHS and GP services to discuss performance issues, and progress discussion with key stakeholders from the council to local developers on funding for practise expansions. I also met with Bedfordshire Hospital Trust to discuss crucial investment needed for site improvements, and how I can support their work as our MP.

Over recess I’ve been out doing a number of street visits and meetings to pick up on local issues from development challenges in Maulden to problems with local GP services in Stondon. Thank you to everyone who’s taken the time to speak to me and my team.

I visited Shefford Fire station to speak to fantastic local crew members and hear more about their work and some of the challenges facing fire fighters locally.

I continued to campaign for action on unadopted roads and estates, including Old Bridge Way in Shefford where adoption issues have allowed a main through road to fall into a shocking state  https://t.co/aQg9Gj1H8i

I joined a cross party delegation of MPs visiting Northern Ireland, meeting with local politicians, businesses schools and voluntary groups to understand more about the history of the troubles and the challenges and opportunities facing Northern Ireland.
